DENBIGH PLUM
The Denbigh Plum was worked by layering purple, gold and magenta chiffon fabric between two layers of plum coloured organza. The ability to change or blend varying hues which features in the main areas, provided a hint of colour as an ‘under paint’ according to the desired effect.
The applied pieces are secured with lines of straight and circular machine stitch in various colours of variegated thread.
There are 105 plum shapes attached to make the finished piece.

THAILAND
The Velvet Panel inspired by my visit to Thailand – a range of contrasting, delicate fabrics have been applied and layered onto velvet to achieve a delicious textured enriched by machine and hand embroidery stitches and manipulative techniques.
Velvet has always been viewed as a luxury fabric associated with richness and wealth. It makes a statement and feels gorgeous. There is a principle barrier of some kind between wealth and the poverty in the country.
In general the aim is to create a stitch textile in which the images integrate within their background.

ROCK STRATA
A visit to China and the Yangtze River Cruise traveling through the three gorges –Qutang, Wu and Xiling presents a scene of boundless variety of elegance as well as the primitive simplicity and the mysteriousness and the charming landscape and splendid culture and to celebrate the unique experience and provided frame work of reference to develop this stitch panel.
This was the most appropriate method of interpretation of the decaying rocks in early morning sunlight, mist and shadow. Composition, colour and balance are important to establish in this way before embarking on the embroidery with its added dimension of textured surface.
